CubiCasa can create an accurate flow plan in just a five - seven minute walkthrough.

Since I was visiting Davenport Florida, just 1/2 hour from Disney Orlando, with the intent to find a home where we would ultimately retire, I asked Gemini to recommend to me iOS apps that can create a floor plan easily.

I settled on CubiCasa as it offered free basic floor plan scanning and looked easy to use.

My experience touring a Model Home

When you are actually touring a model home offered by a new builder, it is hard to prevent others from walking around the room at the same time while you are scanning. However in about seven minutes I was able to complete the scan of a single-story home.

While on site it uploaded about 99% of it and then it would refuse to complete the last 1%. I was only able to upload the entire 1% after I input my credit card payment information, which it said would apply for charges for large properties over 5,000 sq ft.

Results:

A day later I received an extremely accurate floor plan.

The floor plan accuracy was very impressive.

The plus package included GLA measurements

I requested the PLUS package because I got an email offer for a free plus scan as a first-time user.

I was mistakenly billed $30 because CubiCasa thought I uploaded the scan a second time. When I contacted customer service, they immediately credited me the amount after I explained I had only used the app once.

The plus package includes GLA (gross living area?) measurement, which appeared to be perimeter dimensions, as well as locations of the bathroom and kitchen fixtures. It also comes with an 11-page report.

The GLA measurement notes a total SF of 2203 SF, while the builder's site indicates 2,230 square feet, which is 98.8% accuracy. The builder's legal documents incidentally says that their measurements on marketing material are approximate.

CubiCasa Verdict:

Both the ease of use of the app and the accuracy of the measurements are excellent. I highly recommend this for anyone who quickly needs an accurate floor plan.

I will be definitely ordering the full package, which even includes 3D render and fly-through animation, when I scan our three-story townhome in Princeton before I sell the home.
